In the beginning of the script development there is always a true story or a fate that touches me emotionally and needs to be told. The required pitch, treatment, and detailed biographies about characters, real or fictitious, help me build a storyline the draft of the screenplay follows.

The research of each story must be complete, true, and detailed. Therefore, I only work with reliable sources, documentaries, and well-known organizations like Red Cross Munich, „Bundesarchiv“ formerly WAST Berlin, and „Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V.“ who supported e.g. the writing process of „The Portrait“.

Writing the first drafts of the screenplay is my favorite part because it always feels as if I get the chance to meet new people, their stories and dive into their world or a time in the past. I work with programs FadeIn Professional Screenwriting, Pages (Mac), and Microsoft Office.

The entire writing process takes up to months if an idea caught me or even a few years like „The Portrait“ took nine years to finish because of the complex research. The editing includes several versions of the screenplay until the final draft is complete and sent to partners for collaboration.

The aim of 17 August Films and me as a writer is to collaborate and work with ambitious, creative, and open-minded national and international partners, focusing on the German and Scandinavian market, to turn those screenplays into independent films that touch the audience emotionally.

17AF was founded for the development of scripts and to join independent productions as a committed member of your team. Improving with every single project is my goal.
